The Ides of March

Julius Caesar is assassinated by a group of senators in Rome.

A conspiracy led by Brutus and Cassius stabbed Caesar during a meeting of the Senate at the Theatre of Pompey.

Rather than restoring the Republic, the murder triggered civil wars that ended with Augustus as Rome’s first emperor.
