About the exhibition
Spanning 1948 to 1971, this survey brings together forty-two large-scale canvases from public and private collections, many shown in the United States for the first time.
The exhibition is arranged in four movements — mark, field, edge, and erasure — following how painters shifted from expressive gesture toward the cool geometries that followed.
A dedicated study room presents letters, studio photographs, and pigment samples that document how these works were actually made.
